Camper Truck fire - July 2007

Posted on: 22 September, 2007 by admin

A vehicle fire was reported in the Automatic response area of Saanich at 20:00.

We were dispatched to a report of a fully involved truck and camper fire in the Autromatic Response area of Saanich (Allenby Street)

Upon arrival command reported a fully involved camper on a 1990 Ford F250 truck. Oak Bay Units arrived before Saanich and iniated a fast attack of the vehicle fire using the water from our tank. There were no persons in the camper which was for sale at the time.
When Saancih Engine 3 arrived the vehicle was searched for occupants and the scene was secured.

The vehicle was quickly extinguished and the fire was contained to the camper. The truck had minimal damage from some radiant heat.

This fire is treated as suspicious, someone was heard laughing prior to the start of the fire, and a car was heard driving away immediately after a loud bang. If you have any information relating to this suspicious fire please contact Saanich or Oak Bay Police departments or Crime Stoppers.
